Welcome to First Church Sedalia. We are one church with two locations, our Celebration Center located at the corner of 32nd Street and Highway 65 [map] and our historic Downtown campus established in 1888 located at Fourth & Osage [map]. Living rooms are places where people hang out and make friends. We may not be the friendliest church in town, but we really want to be the place where, in time, people make friendships—the forever kind. The minute you walk in our doors, please feel welcome and know that there is a place here for you to belong. Dress comfortably, we’re accessible, really kid friendly and won’t shake you down for money.
Kitchen tables are the places where families gather to share meals, news and spend time together. We want First Church to be a place where you find out what it means to be a part of the family of God. We try to help people connect to God and explore their faith without fear of being judged. We want to offer mutual care and support in life’s experiences.
Remember neighborhood parties and summer cookouts? The backyard is the place where we work and play and we see beyond our own spaces. At the heart of Jesus’ message was the idea of getting close to God by loving Him and then learning to love all people. Some of the ways we reach out to others is in support of local missions like Open Door, the Community Café and Habitat for Humanity. We have mission teams going to do hands on work. We support global missionaries and other missions like Nothing But Nets to end malaria in Africa and Rainbow Network helping Nicaragua’s poor. Nearly 20% of ever dollar we receive goes back out into mission causes.
